1) When I just tried WebCopy the interface appeared to me informative and powerful, with those red and green icons indicating skipped and downloaded files, all looked easy and intuitive. But when I realized I need some of skipped files to be downloaded I fall into troubles. The intuitive way was just to select what I need from the list and say "download these skipped files" and done, but I ended up manually adding all those necessary additional hosts and rules. Having an option to easily download skipped files will greatly increase user experience.

2) Also would be nice to have an option to copy external files to dedicated root folder named after domain instead of nesting it inside copying website domain folder. Moving/remapping already downloaded folders will also do the thing and will be quite a useful tool.

3) Is there way to force WebCopy to crawl and download internal links, that it doesn't see for some reason? As I understand using rules I can only exclude things from crawling, not include? Would be also a useful feature that will help downloading some problematic sites.

Overall I would like to thank you for WebCopy software - it feels smart as it makes the most clean web copies relative to other web copiers and that what I like it for.

Hello,

Thanks for the suggestions. I think you might actually be the first person ever who has stated they liked the UI, it seems to be quite confusing for lots of people!

In regards to your suggestions:

1. I'm definitely open to improving WebCopy's UI. Can you provide a bit more information on why files were skipped and how you added them to WebCopy? For some things it's possible there already was an easier way of doing what you wanted, otherwise I can use that information to log more enhancements. I have some fairly major work for WebCopy planned for the next couple of months so if I can fit in UI improvements that will help balance making other bits of it more complex.

2. Nice suggestion, logged.

3. For URI's that you know exist but which are not exposed or (as per your other post, generated purely through JavaScript) not detected by WebCopy, you can add a list of "extra" URI's to crawl via the Additional URI's page in the Project Properties dialog.

Thanks again for the suggestions, and I'm glad you are finding WebCopy useful, despite it's flaws.

Regards;
Richard Moss
