Title: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
Post by: lp2015 on February 06, 2015, 05:28:00 AM
Crawl fails with the message: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object".
The folder is password-protected, and the failure occurs regardless of what I enter in the Passwords option.
What could this be?
Thanks.

Hello,

Thanks for the message, and sorry for the trouble you're having.

Is it a standard message box, or is a proper error dialog that provides the context? If you can copy and paste the error details (it should be a block of XML) then I can see if there's anything obvious from the stack trace.

When you say the folder is password protected, how does the user normally get prompted for a password, ie do they login via a HTML form, or does the browser itself issue a native password dialog.

Thanks;

Thanks for reply.

I re-created the project ("New" then "Save" and overwrite) and the error disappeared.

Hello,

Thanks for the follow up. While I'm happy the problem has gone, it's a shame there's no context to go with it - clearly there's an issue somewhere and I'd prefer to get it fixed. If it happens again can you try and capture any error information provided?

Thanks;
